Mary Yi recently earned her master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she studied in the Education Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Organizations program and was part of the School Leadership Pathway. She now brings her passion for equity-driven leadership, instructional excellence, and inclusive school culture to her new role as principal of Clark Avenue Middle School.

Born to Korean immigrant parents, Mary brings a deep, personal understanding of the importance of culturally responsive education and the power of representation in schools. She began her career in Chelsea Public Schools in 2015 after graduating from Boston University. She served as a 2nd and 3rd grade classroom teacher and later as the 4th grade Multilingual Education Liaison at the Sokolowski Elementary School. Over the years, she took on several leadership roles, including SEL Lead, member of the Culturally Responsive Teaching Team, and the Teaching and Learning Team.

This past spring, Mary served as a principal intern at the Wright Science and Technology Academy, where she deepened her leadership practice by working closely with administration, students and staff to support school-wide improvement efforts.

Mary is honored to be in partnership with students, families, and staff of the Clark Avenue Middle School to continue to co-create a joyful, inclusive, and empowering learning environment where all members of the school community can thrive.
