Dear Students, Families and Community members,

I am extremely pleased to be entering my second year serving the Chelsea community as the CVLA principal. CVLA is a special place. We have the unique opportunity to develop our small school from scratch with skilled and committed educators.

My career in public education spans 38 years and includes teaching, administration, leadership, consulting and coaching. As a public school educator, I am inspired and motivated by the Coalition of Essential Schools democratic and equitable schools movement, which deeply informed my development as an educator. My work is driven by a belief that our public education system must offer a “personalized, equitable and academically challenging” education to all students. I am a MetLife Foundation Ambassador of Education and graduate of the LeadBoston program. Like many of our students, I am a first generation college graduate.

    My Education:

BA, UMASS Amherst Anthropology and Latin American Studies
MEd, Harvard University Graduate School of Education
    CAGS, Simmons University, Education Leadership
PhD, (ABD) UMASS Amherst, Teacher Education and School Improvement
